Eastern Madera County includes the unincorporated communites of O'Neals, North Fork, Bass Lake, Wishon, Raymond, Oakhurst, Coarsegold, and Ahwahnee.  We also service the Mariposa County unincorporated communites of Mariposa, Fish Camp, Wawona, and Yosemite West.

Oakhurst is the economic center of the mountain area with major grocery, retail, and restaurants along with the locally owned stores.  The other communities are also served by smaller commercial centers.  Most lodging is in Oakhurst and Mariposa.  There is also resort lodging in Bass Lake, Fish Camp, Wawona, and Yosemite West.

It is generally accepted that the Eastern Madera County communites have a permanent population of about 35,000.  Mariposa communities total about 15,000 people.

Electric service is provided by Pacific Gas & Electric Company.  Telephone service is provided by Ponderosa Telephone (North Fork and O'Neals), Raymond Telephone (Raymond), Sierra Telephone (Bass Lake, Oakhurst, Coarsegold, Ahwahnee, Fish Camp), Mariposa Telephone (Mariposa), and Pacific Telephone (Wawona and Yosemite West).

Domestic water may be provided by private wells, private community systems, county managed districts, or government owned systems.  I will explain the systems for any property you view.

Waste water may be either individual septic tanks or community disposal systems.  Again, I will explain the systems for any property you view.

Urban-type garbage collection is available to almost all properties.  Otherwise, public access disposal sites are located in North Fork and Mariposa.

Madera is the County Seat of Madera County; Mariposa is the County Seat of Mariposa County.  None of the foothill communities is an incorporated city.

Fresno is the major shopping city for this area.  Fresno is about 45 minutes from Oakhurst on Highway 41.  The Fresno/Clovis metropolitan area is slightly less than one millon population.  Fresno is the fifth largest city in California.
